In November of 2022, our first Bohemian Shepherd named "Bandit" Douglas Dan Midumo was born. He was one of a litter of five pups that was born from his parents Qwasha Bryvilsár and Herbie Ro-Ga Pair in Brandýs nad Labem-Stará Boleslav, a small town outside of Prague in the Czech Republic. We traveled to Prague in January of 2023 and brought back 10 week old Bandit with us in the airplane cabin.

Bandit is an old soul with depth and intelligence. He adores his family and will never let you go to the bathroom without him. His favorite game is to play fetch with a ball and he loves to jump to catch the ball mid-air. Bandit is very athletic, but also has a wonderful off-switch. He wants to be with his humans and go on walks, but naptime and laying on the cold tile floor are also pretty amazing. Not a single car goes by our house that Bandit does not alert to. He takes his job as our primary family watch dog with complete devotion and sincerity. He lives up to the vocal aspect of Bohemian Shepherds with tenacity.

Bandit has enjoyed a few different sports and we have plans to dive into more this year. He has participated in beginning and intermediate scent training, AKC star puppy, as well as an intro to agility course. This year we have been testing the waters with Barn Hunt competitions, and had a lot of fun getting his first title in Instinct in Tampa in March.

 

Bandit has his xrays submitted to the OFA, which is a database that collates and disseminates information concerning orthopedic and genetic diseases in animals. We are happy to report that as his results are all normal with good hips. You can review them on the OFA website here, or by searching his registered name "Douglas Dan Midumo" on their site.

• Bandit is a genetic carrier of Degenerative Myelopathy (DM). In accordance to breed standards, he will not be bred with a dog that is also a carrier to prevent DM from being bred into future lines. This is the acceptable requirement put forth by both the international and North American clubs. Carriers cannot develop DM and have to bred mindfully to keep DM out of the lines.​
